In the <strong>packaging<\/strong> area, the manual inspection of blisters containing valves \u2013 verifying the correct code, counting items, and carrying out visual quality checks of O-rings, seals, rings, orientation, and sequence \u2013 required <strong>time<\/strong>, a high level of operator <strong>attention<\/strong>, and remained exposed to the<strong> risk of human error,<\/strong> particularly during peak production periods. The company was seeking an <strong>automated solution <\/strong>capable of ensuring <strong>traceability<\/strong>, <strong>repeatability<\/strong>, and inspection <strong>speed<\/strong>, without slowing down the packaging flow.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The solution<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>The PIQAPART team developed and installed a bespoke LightBox solution within the <strong>packaging area<\/strong>. The operator places the blister containing the valves inside the LightBox. A controlled lighting system and an industrial camera capture the image of the blister, which is analysed in real time by artificial intelligence models specifically trained on the different BOSCH Rexroth valve families.<\/p>\n\n<p>The system automatically performs:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>code verification<\/strong>, matching the order code with the type of valve contained in the blister;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>automatic counting<\/strong>, checking that the number of valves corresponds to the required quantity;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>visual quality inspection<\/strong>, verifying the presence and position of O-rings, seals, rings, and other components, and checking orientation and the correct sequence within the blister.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The application<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>The LightBox was integrated into the existing operational workflow with minimal impact on operators\u2019 working methods. The operator positions the blister inside the LightBox, the system captures the image and automatically initiates the analysis.<\/p>\n\n<p>Within seconds, the operator can view the inspection outcome on the monitor:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>number<\/strong> of valves detected;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>number<\/strong> and <strong>type<\/strong> of non-compliant valves;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>compliance<\/strong> status in relation to the order being processed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>In the event of an anomaly \u2013 incorrect quantity, wrong valve type, missing or incorrectly positioned O-rings or seals, or incorrect assembly sequence within the blister \u2013 the system immediately flags the issue, allowing the operator to intervene before the batch is closed and dispatched.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The results<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>The introduction of the PIQAPART LightBox solution delivered several measurable benefits:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>reduced packaging mistakes<\/strong> thanks to objective and repeatable inspection of every blister; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>increased efficiency <\/strong>in the packaging area, with shorter inspection times compared to manual checks alone;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>enhanced <strong>operator support,<\/strong> with clear and immediate on-screen feedback and precise indication of any non-compliant items;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>improved traceability<\/strong>, with each inspection linked to the order, valve code and inspection outcome.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>A particularly significant benefit concerns <strong>after-sales<\/strong> management: for each order, the system stores the captured images together with the corresponding analysis results. In the event of <strong>claims<\/strong> relating to incorrectly assembled products or orders containing fewer valves than declared, BOSCH Rexroth has objective evidence of how the blister was inspected, packaged and shipped. This <strong>reduces unfounded disputes<\/strong>, <strong>speeds up claims handling<\/strong>, and <strong>strengthens customer loyalty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The conclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>The BOSCH Rexroth project demonstrates how PIQAPART can be effectively integrated into packaging areas to <strong>automate component counting and quality control<\/strong>.
